Future Scenarios for cross-border Neighbourhoods
Situation
In 2026, the canton of Zurich took over the chairmanship of the Internationale Bodensee-Konferenz (IBK). It is using this year to reflect on the future of the cross-border neighbourhood in the midst of turbulent times. On behalf of the Chancellery of the Canton of Zurich, we explored the potential of this neighbourhood.
Process
The «IBK 2050» study looks from today to tomorrow and beyond: at real circumstances, upcoming opportunities and challenges, and the ideas and visions of the people in the Lake Constance region. This analysis has resulted in five concise visions of the future for the IBK neighbourhood in 2050.
Outcome
The future scenarios are presented in a 32-page neighbourhood newspaper – vivid, open to discussion and open to further development. During the chairmanship year, they will be jointly supplemented and refined at various IBK events and committees. Because being good neighbours is not a coincidence, but work for the future.
