Future Scenarios for Cycling in 2040

Graubünden has been a pioneer in the development of bike tourism and can now develop its bike offers from a leading position. The current position of bicycles in society opens up the opportunity for Graubünden to think about bicycles and cycling more broadly than ever before.

Cycling is considered healthy, but also dangerous. New images and narratives for cycling are needed to get people on their bikes in everyday life. We've developed and illustrated these future narratives. They give a concrete idea of what cycling in a mountainous and expansive region could feel and look like in the future. 

Six images show how our perception of bikes and cycling, work and leisure, exercise, health and nature could change in the coming years. The images are not forecasts, but small scenarios. They encourage people to discuss  the future of cycling in Graubünden and help decision-makers to set the course for cycling in the region today.
